Cookie notice

Every cookie and browser-storage item this site sets, what each one is for, and how long it lasts. There are five in total, none of them advertising, and no banner asking you to accept them.

What a cookie is, briefly

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so that something can be remembered between pages or visits. Some cookies are needed for a site to work at all. Others exist to follow people between sites. We use the first kind, sparingly, and none of the second.

We also use two items of browser storage, which are not cookies but are covered here because they do the same job and you should be told about them.

That is the complete list. There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site identifier, and no third-party analytics product operating on this site.

Because we have nothing to ask you about. The cookies above are either strictly necessary for the site to function or are a plain count of visits that does not identify anyone. Under Canadian guidance, consent is required for tracking that identifies or profiles people, and we do not do that. We would rather explain what we set on one page than interrupt every visitor with a dialogue designed to be dismissed.

The single exception is the Google Maps embed on the contact page. If you would prefer not to load it, the office address is written out in text directly beside it, and the map will not load unless the page is opened.

How to control cookies

  • Clear what we have stored: clearing site data for tooranceat.digital in your browser removes the theme preference, the bookmark list and both first-party cookies. Nothing is lost that we could restore — we never held it.
  • Block cookies entirely: every major browser allows this, per site or globally. This site works with cookies blocked; the theme will simply reset each visit.
  • Private browsing: everything on the list above is discarded when you close the window.

Changes to this notice

If we add or remove anything on the list above, this page is updated before the change takes effect and the change is noted on the updates page. Our commitment is that the list stays complete and short.
